Mansfield District Council propose to develop 1.8 hectares of this land as a first phase for Extra Care housing and dementia care.

The Extra Care scheme is a new build development consisting of medium density, low rise, dispersed form of accommodation creating a village type development and is to comprise 64 dwellings consisting of bungalows, houses and apartments as well as a communal block as part of Mansfield District Council’s regeneration of the area. The development includes 10 shared ownership properties for residents aged 55 and over.

A key requirement of the completed scheme is to improve and enhance the lives of those end users for whom the buildings are intended with due regard for the health and safety of users, enhancement of life quality, human stimulation and interaction, maintenance of the building.

The dwellings are to be built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 and the common parts of the dementia-care building are to achieve BREEAM Very Good.
