WT provided cost management services for a major programme of improvement works at Heath Mount School, aimed at enhancing facilities, improving sustainability, and addressing long-term maintenance requirements.
The project included the extension of the existing swimming pool, the reconstruction of the pool enclosure and plant room, the installation of air source heat pumps and photovoltaic (PV) panels, and an extension to the existing pavilion. These investments were designed to futureproof the School’s estate while supporting its sustainability objectives and improving the overall user experience.
WT played a key role within the project team, providing strategic cost advice that helped shape the School’s preferred development strategy. Working closely with the client and design team, we evaluated a range of design options and assessed their cost implications throughout the feasibility and design development stages.
Numerous enclosure solutions for the swimming pool were explored, including lightweight structures, portal-frame and fully glazed designs, timber and metal-clad options, and curved-roof configurations incorporating clerestory glazing. Through regular cost planning and option appraisal workshops, WT provided clear and informed cost advice, enabling the School’s leadership team and project board to make confident, evidence-based decisions and progress the project with certainty.
